Hubert Didier
Horticultural production technician, ISTOM engineer, trainer. Fruit trees, fieldwork and passing on know-how.

Passionate about fruit trees and plant diversity, I have been helping individuals, professionals and organisations for several years to create, manage and make the most of orchards.
My approach combines technical knowledge, field experience and the transfer of know-how, with particular attention to observing trees, how they function and how they adapt to growing conditions.
A career devoted to fruit trees
After a BTS in horticultural production, I graduated as an engineer in international development from ISTOM. My final thesis, based on six months of fieldwork in Kazakhstan, studied the impact of land management practices on stands of Malus sieversii, the ancestor of the domestic apple.
I then worked for five years at the Conservatoire végétal régional d’Aquitaine as head of cultivation and trainer, managing 19 hectares of fruit collections and monitoring more than 40 orchards.
In 2021 I founded Fruitiers et Compagnie to put this experience to work for orchard projects (assessments, advice, technical work) and for passing on fruit growing know-how.

Learning by understanding and doing
Theory explains how the tree works and why we intervene. Practice then lets you observe, make your own choices and gradually acquire the right movements. My courses are therefore focused on the field, observation and hands-on work.
Observe
Understand the tree, its environment and its development.
Understand
Acquire the knowledge needed to act in a reasoned way.
Practise
Apply the techniques and gradually become self-reliant.
Courses for different audiences
I work with individuals, farmers, local authorities, landscaping professionals and training organisations. Over the years I have taught for the Potager du Roi in Versailles, the CNFPT, several CFPPA, the ADDEAR, the École Supérieure de Jardin and the Domaine agroécologique de Barolle.
This experience leads me to adapt each course to the level and needs of the participants: starting out in fruit growing, improving, or acquiring a specific technical skill.
Courses
Pruning, grafting, fruit growing, orchard management.
Support
Creation, planting, choice of varieties, orchard management.
Services
Advice, assessment, work in the orchard.
Every tree is different. First observe, understand, then choose the most suitable intervention.
My aim: to give everyone the keys to observe, understand and act wisely on fruit trees.
